Hi, my name is Moelwyn Hopkins and I’m a professional wedding and portrait photographer based in Swansea, south Wales. I am a fluent welsh speaker and grew up in the Amman valley before moving to Swansea 8 years ago. My interest in photography began 15 years ago at the age of 20 when I bought my first Canon 35mm slr camera. My love for photography quickly developed and my passion for taking pictures remains to this day.

I have always had an artistic flair which was apparent at school and I appreciate quality design be it modern architecture, interiors, art or fashion. I quickly gained a wealth of experience photographing most subject matter and my personal work leaned towards modern architecture, interiors and abstracts.

Early on I won a major photographic competition organized by practical photography magazine and double red photographic. My winning picture of a harness racer illustrated the competitions theme 'action' in an inventive and creative way which made it 'stand out from the rest' as were the judges own words.

My prize was an all expenses paid, five day working assignment in Dubai photographing the formula one world powerboat championships. It was the best experience of my life!

My company, S A-One photographic, was established in 2004. The name reflecting the up and coming vibrant changing face of Swansea with inspiration from the new and contemporary SA1 waterfront development, soon to be placing the city amongst some of the best in Europe.

I started offering portraiture and taking on small commissioned work for pr companies, corporate companies and small businesses supplying images of people, places and products. I also had work published in various magazines in the photography market.

Over the last few years, I have become more involved with photographing people. I found myself being drawn into wedding photography by friends and family who liked my style and different approach. They saw the potential for me to move in to this field and started to ask me to take their wedding photographs.

The response was very encouraging, and they were delighted with the way I captured them and interacted with their guests. This left them with natural and creative images of their day, telling their story with stunning images along the way. I achieved this by developing my own style of presentation using top of the range wedding books.

Now I am a full time professional photographer specialising in contemporary wedding photography for fashionable couples, and am in an enviable and lucky position earning a living from doing something I love with a passion.
